Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stretched the lead in battle for most sixes by a team in IPL 2024 during 1-run thrilling victory over table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 50 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday (May 2).
The leading six-hitter of the season, Heinrich Klaasen smashed 3 sixes, while Travis Head also hit 3 sixes for SRH, but it was local lad Nitish Kumar Reddy, who cleared the ropes 8 times to take Sunrisers to 201/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

In the run-chase, Riyan Parag hit 4 sixes and Yashasvi Jaiswal had hit 2 sixes to put RR in the driver’s seat, but despite a maximum each from West Indies duo Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell, the Royals fell 2 runs short of the target.
The ongoing season has seen over 900 sixes being struck in 50 matches, projecting to a possible breach in the total sixes for an IPL season with more than 20 matches left to play this edition. The record stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
