Yashasvi Jaiswal on Saturday (November 23) broke former New Zealand batter Brendon McCullum's record for most sixes in a calender year in Tests during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia.
With two maximums on day 2 of the IND vs AUS Perth Test, Jaiswal surpassed McCullum's tally of 33 sixes in a year to become the batter who has hit more maximums in a calendar year in the longest format of the game.

Jaiswal achieved the record when he hit Australian spinner Nathan Lyon's tossed up delivery over long on for his second six of the innings. The youngster had flicked pace spearhead Mitchell Starc earlier in the innings to go level with McCullum, and then went past the New Zealander a few overs later.
After registering a duck in the first innings, under-pressure Jaiswal once again looked at his best as the wicket in Perth seemed to have eased, and took the attack at times to the Aussie bowlers.
Jaiswal stitched brilliant stand with Rahul as India continued to pile on the lead against Australia in Perth after posting 150 all out in the first innings and bundling out the hosts for 104.
Going in with a lead of 46, Rahul and Jaiswal smashed half centuries and remained unbeaten as India's lead swelled past 200 during the closing stages of day 3's play at the Optus Stadium in Perth. During the stand, Jaiswal smoked two sixes to break the record.
Jaiswal, who marked India debut in 2023 during the tour to West Indies with a century, started the year on a sour note in South Africa before owning the opener's slot with back-to-back double centuries in the home series against England.
Since India resumed action in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle in September, Jaiswal has scored four fifties and has struck several sixes during his knocks, taking him to the top of the tree for most sixes in the format in 2024.
