Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) achieved a unique feat during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by smashing over 150 sixes in a season.
This extraordinary landmark has been breached for the first time in 17 seasons of IPL. Teams had combined for only 140 plus sixes in the previous editions. SRH had infact broken the record for most sixes in a single season when they crossed 145 sixes earlier in the season.

On Sunday (May 19), the Hyderabad-based side crossed the 150-mark for maximums by a team, becoming the second side after RCB had reached the milestone on Saturday (May 18).
SRH took their sixes tally past 150 in their final league stage match against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where Abhishek Sharma also claimed the lead for most sixes by a player in the season.
Virat Kohli had taken the lead for just under 24 hours when RCB became the first side to hit 150 or more sixes in a single season of IPL. The Bengaluru-based side achieved the feat in a crucial encounter against Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
While Kohli was on 37 sixes at the start of the final league stage matchday, Abhsihek soon surpassed the star India batter with 6 big hits to put SRH in the driver's seat in the run chase of 215 against PBKS.
Later in the innings, Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen took SRH surpassed RCB's tally for most sixes by a team in a single IPL tournament. SRH achieved the feat having played one match fewer than RCB. Here is a look at the most sixes in a single IPL season:
