Gayle's reputation as one of the most destructive batters in T20 cricket is reflected in his IPL records.
He holds the record for the most sixes in a single IPL season after smashing 59 maximums in 2013. That same season also featured his legendary innings of 175* for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors India, which included 17 sixes - the most in a single IPL innings.
Interestingly, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru witnessed a significant portion of Gayle's six-hitting exploits, with the Caribbean star hitting over 120 sixes at the venue.
Among active cricketers, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli lead the six-hitting charts.
Rohit currently sits second on the all-time list with more than 300 IPL sixes, while Kohli is close behind in third place. Both players continue to feature in the tournament and could add further to their tallies in upcoming seasons.
With IPL 2026 set to begin soon, the race among active players to close the gap on Gayle's iconic six-hitting record will remain one of the most exciting storylines in the tournament.
