Most T20 Sixes by Indian Players in 2024: Abhishek Sharma Leads List With Over 50 Maximums in Shortest Format

Abhishek Sharma has dominated the six-hitting charts of Indian players in T20 cricket this year, smashing over a half a century of maximums across competitions in IPL and international cricket.

The southpaw from Punjab, who finished the IPL 2024 earlier this year with most sixes in the tournament, has also carried on his approach of fearless cricket in international cricket since making his Team India debut in July.

Abhishek had struck 42 sixes, four more than the chasing pack that included one of the top six-hitters this year. He later added 10 sixes in his 5 innings for Team India to take his total tally to 52 maximums so far in 2024.

The record-breaker and T20 World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma follows Abhishek with 46 sixes across competitions, while Virat Kohli, another senior pro, who also announced his retirement with the former captain sits in third with 45 sixes.

Kohli had hit 38 sixes in IPL 2024 and followed that with 7 maximums in T20 internationals before he quit the format. Rohit, on the other hand, leads the list for most sixes by an Indian player in internationals with 23 sixes. He hit the same number of maximums in IPL.

While the veteran duo can't surpass Abhishek in 2024, all-rounder and big-hitting Shivam Dube could also join the Punjab player in the 50 sixes list in the remaining few games this year.

Dube, who has earned his reputation for six-hitting ability since the last two years, smashed 28 sixes in IPL 2024, and has also smashed 15 sixes in T20Is. Here is a look at the players with most T20 sixes by Indian players in 2024:

While Abhishek tops the list of most sixes by Indian players in the shortest format, the left-hander is way behind the leader for most sixes by a player so far this year.

West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran, who had hit 36 sixes in IPL earlier this year, has smashed 165 maximums in T20 cricket across the many competitions in 2024. It is understandable, that the West Indian leads the list as he plays different leagues across the world.

Similarly, another big hitter Heinrich Klaasen has also hit close to a century of sixes this year followed by Andre Rusell. The duo have hit 92 and 87 sixes so far despite being level with Pooran at the start of IPL 2024. Here is a look at the top 5 six hitters in T20 format in 2024:
