Most Wickets in ICC ODI World Cup: The race for the top wicket-taker is likely to be decided soon in 2023 as only part of the top 10 will do battle for the first spot during the knock out stages.
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is closely followed by Australian spinner Adam Zampa in the leaderboard, while South African duo Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen as well as India's Jasprit Bumrah also appear in the highest wicket-taker in this edition.

Shami, who has taken just 6 innings to top the charts, added to his tally in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Similarly, Zampa and Bumrah also got close to the top of the leaderboard.
Shami got closer to Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who owns the record for most wickets in a single World Cup, having claimed 27 scalps in the 2019 World Cup. Starc surpassed another Australian great Glenn McGrath to achieve the feat.
Over the years, different players have finished the tournament has the highest wicket-taker. Only one player - Starc - has finished atop of the most wickets in a single ODI World Cup twice, once jointly with Trent Boult in 2015 and once in 2019.
Also, an interesting thing to note from the list is that, unlike the highest run-getter not finishing on the winning side, the top wicket-taker of four editions has been part of the World Cup winning team. Here is look at the list that is dominated by Australian bowlers:

While the most wickets in a single ODI World Cup may be a little difficult, few bowlers like Starc, Shami and New Zealand's Trent Boult moved up the charts for most wickets in ODI World Cup history.
McGrath owns the record, which will probably be broken in the next edition. However, there will be several bowlers who could catch up to the tally in what could possibly be their last World Cup. Here are top 10 highest wicket-takers in World Cup history:
