Most Wickets inside Powerplay in IPL: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mohammed Shami – Check Out The Top 10

Powerplay is crucial in the limited over format for both the batting and fielding teams. And in the Indian Premier League (IPL), we have seen batters getting their teams off to fast starts very often.

But there are some instances when the going gets tough and the bowlers have piled in the dot balls, creating pressure on the batters to make mistakes. Sometimes the bowlers also bowl unplayable deliveries to dismiss the batter early.

Most successful bowlers in IPL powerplay

Over the years, we have seen many batters dominate the powerplay overs (the first six overs of an inning) in T20 and ODI formats, but some bowlers have got the better of them. In IPL too, we have seen a handful of bowlers, who have done very well inside powerplay.

As it's the first six overs of the match, it's the fast bowlers that have claimed most wickets inside the powerplay. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Deepak Chahar are the three bowlers among the top 10 bowlers to take more wickets inside powerplay.

Bhuvneshwar, who is currently plying his trade for Sunrisers Hyderabad, sits on top of the list that also features the likes of Sandeep Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Ishant Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni and Ashish Nehra.

Some among the best bowlers in powerplay can add to their tally in the IPL seasons to come like Mohammed Shami, Ashwin, Boult, Ishant, Sandeep, Bhuvneshwar, Umesh and Chahar, while some could catch up on the top 10 as well.
