Earlier on Sunday, in the third encounter of PSL 2024 at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday, the Multan Sultans defeated the Karachi Kings with a commanding 55-run victory.
The bowlers of the Sultans proved to be competent as they held the Kings to 130/8 while putting up a strong defense against 186. On his PSL debut, pacer Muhammad Ali recorded figures of 3/23. Hasan Ali, Mir Hamza, and Daniel Sams were all fired by him.
After being named Mohammad Rizwan's deputy of Sultans for PSL 9, David Willey scored 2/23, while Abbas Afridi came back with 2/16. Usama Mir, the spinner, had an economical spell, scoring figures of 1/14. For the Karachi Kings, Mir Hamza and Daniel Sams each secured one wicket.
It was a doubleheader day with Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi facing off in the afternoon clash at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. In a thrilling match, Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs, as the Babar Azam-led team was unable to score the game's enormous 207 runs.
With a bowling figure of 3-38, Salman Irshad topped the Peshawar Zalmi bowling charts while Luke Wood and Mohammad Zeeshan took one wicket each. For the Karachi Kings, Abrar Ahmed delivered a crucial 2/29, taking the big wickets of Babar Azam and Tom Kohler-Cadmore in the same over. Akeal Hosein, Mohammad Amir and Muhammad Wasim Jr took a wicket each.
