Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on Thursday (May 11) surpassed former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo to become sole highest wicket-taker in Indian Premier League history during match 56 of IPL 2023.
Chahal achieved the feat with the dismissal of Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana in a crucial match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The scalp of Rana took Chahal's IPL wicket tally to 184, one more than Bravo.

Bravo, who is now part of the CSK coaching staff, surpassed former Mumbai Indians great Lasith Malinga to takeover the crown as highest wicket-taker in IPL during the 2022 season. Bravo now sits second with 183 scalps.
Malinga, who is also retired and part of the RR staff from 2022, had claimed 170 wickets to take the top spot in 2021, but the figure of 170 has been breached by two other bowlers and one spinner is level on that number.
Indian veteran spinner Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawal are the joint third highest wicket-takers. Ravichandran Ashwin has also claimed 170 wickets, while seasoned India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and West Indies spinner Sunil Narine have also made strides.
While the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah approach the 150-mark in wickets in IPL, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada all crossed the 100 wickets landmark recently.
Mohit Sharma, Andre Russell and Jaydev Unadkat are among the pacers closing in on the 100 wicket milestone in the Indian Premier League. There are also some veteran and retired cricketers that feature in the most wickets list in IPL.
Now, lets take a look at the players with most wickets in Indian Premier League history list which is evenly dominated by spinners as well as pacers. The list is also dominated by Indian bowlers the most.
