MS Dhoni's dubious record of featuring in all 4 matches that India have lost to Bangladesh

Mirpur, June 19: India's one-day and Twenty20 captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni achieved a dubious distinction after India went down to Bangladesh by 79 runs in the first game of the three-match series here on Thursday. ['Welcome to the jungle', says Bangladeshi media]

Dhoni has now featured in all the four losses that India have suffered in hands of Bangladesh in one-day internationals.

India had lost their first one-day match to Bangladesh on December 26, 2004 at the Bangabadnhu National Stadium here when they fell short of the target by just 15 runs while chasing 230. Dhoni, batting at No. 8 then, was dismissed by Mashrafe Mortaza for just 12 off 16 balls. India. However, had won the series 2-1.

India's second loss to Bangladesh came on March 17, 2007, in a World Cup match at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain in the West Indies. Led by Rahul Dravid, the Indians were skittled out for 191 which the Bangladeshis overhauled with 5 wickets in hand. Dhoni was out for a duck in this match.

The third loss came on March 16, 2012, at the Bangabandhu stadium again in a Asia Cup. Led by Dhoni this time, the Indians put up a good score of 289 in 50 overs, thanks to Sachin Tendulkar's hundredth international ton. But the Indian bowlers couldn't defend the score as Bangladesh won by 5 wickets. Dhoni's score was 21 not out.

And then came the latest defeat at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on June 18, 2015. Dhoni's side suffered its heaviest defeat to Bangladesh in terms of runs as they fell short of the target by 80 runs. Dhoni made just 5 as Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead over India in the three-match series.

On the contrary, Bangladeshi skipper Mortaza has featured in all the four wins that his country has got over India. He was, in fact, adjudged the man of the match in the first two wins.

Overall, India have won 30 matches against Bangladesh while the latter have won 4. One match did not have any result.
