Former India captain MS Dhoni led his Chennai Super Kings side to a record-equalling fifth IPL title. It was a fantastic outing for CSK in the IPL 2023 who shrugged off their 2022 blues to win the championship.
Chennai Super Kings finished second in the group stage, then went on to beat the defending champions Gujarat Titans twice in the playoffs to clinch the title.

The entire nation showed amazing support to CSK, courtesy of MS Dhoni. The former Indian captain was poised to retire at the end of IPL 2023 and thus garnered monumental love and support across all the IPL venues.
It was a satisfying moment for him to win the IPL for the fifth time. The veteran led his young troops extremely well as players like Tushar Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana, Ruturaj Gaikwad and others thrived and played a crucial part in their victory.
On personal terms, Dhoni batted sporadically in the season and mainly used to come at the latter stages of the inning. His arrival was much anticipated in all the matches and always created deafening cheers.
Across the 16 matches, Dhoni scored 104 runs in the season at an average of 26. He scored at a terrific strike rate of 182 and also hit 13 boundaries, 3 of those were fours whereas 10 of those boundaries cleared the fences.
MS Dhoni also completed 7 catches and 3 stumpings in the season and also completed 5000 IPL runs in his career.

Interestingly, Dhoni took apart a bowler for multiple boundaries when he got going. Khaleel Ahmed was his most favourite bowler in the IPL 2023 who went for two maximums and a four, whereas five other bowlers conceded boundaries twice each while bowling the CSK supremo.
