MS Dhoni's Jharkhand to get a New Stadium? BCCI officials visit at potential new Destination

By MyKhel Staff

MS Dhoni's home state Jharkhand may get a new stadium as a potential destination is likely to be materialized in the upcoming time for domestic or international cricket.

Indian cricket could soon see the addition of a new venue, as a team from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) visited the Swargiya Sanjay Singh Cricket Ground in Hazaribagh for a comprehensive inspection.

The visit, coordinated by the Hazaribagh District Cricket Association (HDCA), marks a significant step towards positioning the venue as a potential host for state-level and BCCI-recognised matches.

BCCI's Manager of Cricket Operations, Amit Siddheshwar, led the inspection team alongside key officials from the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), Rajesh Verma and Raju. The team thoroughly evaluated the pitch conditions, turf wickets, practice facilities, floodlights, dressing rooms, dugouts, pavilion, and the ground's maintenance infrastructure.

Where is Hazaribagh?

Hazaribagh is located in central Jharkhand, about 93 km north of Ranchi, on the Chotanagpur Plateau. The nearest railway station is Hazaribagh Town (HZBN). The closest airport is Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.

Facilitated by HDCA secretary Rajesh Tiwari and other members of the local body, the inspection extended beyond the ground itself. The BCCI delegation assessed local lodging facilities, visiting four hotels to examine accommodations for players and officials - a crucial aspect for any venue aspiring to host top-tier matches.

In a key development, the visiting officials also met HDCA president and Hazaribagh MP Manish Jaiswal, acknowledging his role in the stadium's development and the collaborative efforts undertaken with the district association. The BCCI team noted that most of the required infrastructure is already in place and offered recommendations for further enhancement.

With positive initial feedback from the BCCI and an infrastructure roadmap in place, Hazaribagh could soon emerge as Indian cricket's newest addition to the domestic hosting circuit - a development that signals broader expansion and decentralisation in venue planning.

Jharkhand has the solitary international stadium in Ranchi, while the Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur is used for domestic matches. If Hazaribagh becomes a potential destination, the state would thus get its third national-level ground.
