MS Dhoni lands in Chennai ahead of IPL 2024 in style, set to gear up for CSK vs RCB opener at Chepauk

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni landed in Chennai on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

The defending champions posted a picture of Dhoni, who led them to their fifth title last season, exiting a vehicle on social media, captioning it ''#THA7A Dharisanam!'' Speculation is rife that this season will be Dhoni's final one as a player.

Last year, the 42-year-old mostly came out to bat towards the fag end of CSK innings. CSK began their pre-season training camp on Saturday with the first batch of CSK players landing here a day before.

The players who have arrived so far include Deepak Chahar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Simarjeet Singh, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Mukesh Choudhary, Prashant Solanki, Ajay Mandal, Shaik Rasheed and Nishant Sindhu (all-rounder).

Dhoni led CSK to their fifth title win last year, and when asked by Harsha Bhogle about his retirement plans, he made it clear that he would be definitely returning for the next season as a tribute to his fans who showered immense love at all the venues the Yellow Army played their matches.

The talismanic leader immediately underwent a knee surgery after the IPL 2023 final to successfully recover on time for the seventeenth edition. His friend Paramjit Singh has asserted that Dhoni is fit enough to last a couple of more seasons.

"I do not think this will be his (Dhoni's) last season. He is still fit. I think he will play one or two more seasons. He will definitely play one more season. The reason is he is fit," he told OneCricket.

Despite losing his old spark with the bat, the former India captain was at his brutal best in the end overs for his team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2024. He scored 104 runs at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 182.45 to give his team strong finishes.

CSK will open their IPL 2024 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) here on March 22.
