MS Dhoni Likely To Undergo Surgery in London Soon; May Take 5-6 Months To Recover

By MyKhel Staff

Amid mounting speculation surrounding his future in cricket, former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni is reportedly planning a trip to London for treatment of a muscle tear injury, as per a report by IANS.

MS Dhoni will assess his future in the sport post-recovery, CSK sources revealed. Following CSK's decisive 27-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore, speculation intensified regarding Dhoni's future in cricket.

MS Dhoni Surgery

However, according to insider information obtained by IANS, Dhoni is contemplating undergoing surgery in London to address his lingering muscle tear issue, which hampered his performance during the IPL

"Dhoni might head to London for his muscle tear surgery which saw him struggling during the IPL. He is not fully fit but wants to continue to play cricket, and he will only decide about his future after treatment, which will take him five to six months to recover," revealed the sources to IANS.

The 42-year-old wicketkeeper has struggled with the muscle injury throughout the season and has often batted only an over, resting himself to the role of cameo. Before the news of his injury broke, fans questioned why Dhoni wasn't batting earlier in the batting order while CSK's season ended on a poor note.

The IPL 2024 marks only the third occasion that the illustrious five-time IPL champion team will not feature in the playoffs. During the chase of 219 runs against RCB, CSK faced setbacks in the middle overs despite commendable efforts from Rachin Ravindra and Ravindra Jadeja. While Ravindra scored 61 runs, Jadeja remained unbeaten at 42, yet their efforts fell short in guiding the defending champions over the line.

Despite concluding the league stage campaign with 14 points, the same as RCB, CSK's failure to secure a berth in the playoffs was attributed to the latter's superior net run-rate.

While speculation has intensified regarding Dhoni's future with the franchise, the veteran cricketer has maintained a stoic silence, choosing to keep his future plans undisclosed as he headed back home following the last CSK match.
