Dhoni top-scores for Jharkhand
In December 2015, India's limited overs captain Dhoni played for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament in Bengaluru. He played for his state side after a gap of 8 years.
Dhoni, who is currently leading the Indian team in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand, last night (October 23) confirmed that he will play for Jharkhand again next year in the 50-over format.
At the IS Bindra Stadium on Sunday, India defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets to take a 2-1 lead. Batting at number four, Dhoni scored 80 while vice-captain Virat Kohli hit a classy 154 not out.
In the post-match press conference, Dhoni said he wanted to play more limited overs matches since he has retired from Tests.
"You can go out and play the big shots, start with a positive intent. With more and more games I will keep getting better. That is what is important for me," Dhoni said when asked about promoting himself to number four.
He continued, "...To see the number of games available for me. This is a five-match series (against New Zealand), followed by 3 against England and 2 T20Is or 3. So that is not a lot of limited overs cricket. I will go and play the Ranji Trophy one dayers (Vijay Hazare Trophy for Jhakhand). Overall there is not a lot of cricket and I have to make the most of it. The more deliveries I play the bettter it is for me."
