MS Dhoni Please Retire! Fans Disheartened to See Thala Struggle During CSK vs KKR IPL 2025 Match

MS Dhoni made his return as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain on Friday, 11th April after regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was earlier ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury.

But the return is not going well as of now as the 5-time champions faltered and managed just 103 runs on the board. On top of that, coming at No.9, he failed to churn out runs with the bat gaining wide-spread criticisms from even the best of fans.

MS Dhoni

Here's a look at few of the reactions on X that have gone viral.

''I had a lot of respect for MS Dhoni. He had a chance to retire on a high note but he didn't retire. He thought he could play because the media respected him. But i think, now he's gonna regret his decision. He should retire after today's humiliation by KKR'', a fan expressed.

''They need new coaching staff and new complete playing squad. Retain no-one from this squad accept K Ahmed & N Ahmed. Rest all are just useless. Retire now ms dhoni'', another one wrote.

I already said nothing will change for Chennai SUPER KINGS when they Make MS DHONI as captain because with their Mindset they already have loss in Auction and now done Stupidus thing to make MSD Captain they should force him to RETIRE order DROP.

Put into bat after losing the toss, CSK stumbled their way to 103/9 in their 20 overs, facing a disciplined and ruthless KKR bowling attack on a pitch offering grip and turn.

Things began to unravel early for Chennai. The opening pair of Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway failed to provide a solid start. Conway was trapped LBW by Moeen Ali in the fourth over, and Rachin followed immediately after, caught by Rahane off Harshit Rana in the very next over - both departing with the score stuck at 16.

While Vijay Shankar (29 off 21) showed some intent with his aggressive stroke play and Shivam Dube (31* off 29) hung in till the end, wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Rahane, Tripathi, and Ashwin all fell cheaply, while CSK's lower-middle order collapsed dramatically. Jadeja, Hooda, and Dhoni added just one run between them.

Sunil Narine was the standout for KKR, finishing with figures of 4-0-13-3, choking the scoring rate and picking up key wickets including Jadeja and Dhoni. Varun Chakaravarthy (2/22) and Harshit Rana (2/16) also struck crucial blows, while Vaibhav Arora cleaned up the tail.

In the end, it was only due to a small unbeaten knock by Anshul Kamboj (3* off 3) that CSK even scraped past the 100-run mark. Their total of 103/9 is far below par on most surfaces, and the Chepauk crowd, known for its fierce CSK loyalty, was left disappointed.

With the likes of Narine and Varun spinning webs and the seamers hitting their marks, KKR head into the chase with confidence. For CSK, defending this total would need nothing short of a miracle.
