In one one of the most high-octane matches of the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to qualify for the IPL 2024.
RCB, who were once reeling at the bottom of the 10-team points table after losing six matches on the trot, won as many back-to-back matches to qualify for the IPL playoffs in a sensational fashion.

RCB's 27-run defeat also denied CSK the opportunity to qualify for the Chennai playoffs. An ecstatic bunch of RCB players celebrated wildly as the CSK players led by MS Dhoni lined up for the customary handshake after the match.
However, the extended celebration by the RCB players brought an end to Dhoni's patience as he left the ground without shaking hands with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli's men. The incident became a big talking point from the match as fans got divided in two camps.
Harbhajan Singh has now revealed that Dhoni not only did walk away after waiting but also punched on a screen outside the dressing room. Harbhajan reckoned that Dhoni vented out his anger as his dream of retiring with another IPL trophy ended after CSK's defeat.
"RCB was celebrating and they deserved to celebrate because of the way they won. I was watching the whole scene from above because I was present there. RCB was celebrating and CSK had lined up to shake hands, RCB were a little late to reach CSK. By the time Team RCB finished their celebration, (Dhoni) went inside and he punched a screen outside the dressing room," Harbhajan said in an interaction with Sports Yaari.
"I was watching from above but it is okay that every player has his own emotions, it happens. Yes, but he was not so calm that day. Maybe because his dream of retiring with the trophy was shattered in front of his eyes that day," he added.
Further, Harbhajan Singh, who played under Dhoni at CSK in his playing career, opined that it all depends on Dhoni how long he wants to continue.
"Because after winning the trophy, Dhoni could have retired in 2023. But this is MS Dhoni's decision. Maybe we will see him this year and next year as well. It depends on him. We are no one to tell him when he should retire, if he is fit, he can play for CSK for the next 10 years. Who are we to tell him when and for how long to play."
