Former India captain MS Dhoni has been served a notice by the Jharkhand State Housing Board over alleged commercial use of a residential plot in Ranchi.
According to the notice, a pathology lab is reportedly operating from the property - plot number H/10A - which was originally allotted to Dhoni for residential purposes. The board has initiated a probe into whether the premises are being used in violation of allotment norms.

The housing authority has asked Dhoni to submit his response, terming it a final opportunity to clarify his position. It has also stated that failure to respond could result in a recommendation to cancel the allotment.
Dhoni was allotted the residential plot in 2006 during the tenure of the then Jharkhand government. The matter came to light following reports that a diagnostic centre operating under the name "Neuberg Supratech" is functioning from the address.
The former India captain has not yet issued a public response regarding the notice.
Back in 2017, former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was reportedly served a notice by the Jharkhand State Housing Board (JSHB) over an alleged irregular land allotment in Ranchi.
According to reports at the time, the JSHB had asked Dhoni to clarify why a plot adjacent to his originally allotted land at Harmu Housing Colony should not be cancelled. The additional parcel was described as a "cut plot" and was alleged to have been allotted irregularly.
Dhoni had initially been allotted a 5,002-square-foot plot by the state government in recognition of his cricketing achievements in 2006. However, reports stated that he later received an adjoining 4,780-square-foot plot, which prompted the housing board to issue the notice. He was asked to respond within 15 days.
The matter was not publicly discussed in detail, and at the time, JSHB Managing Director Dillip Kumar Jha declined to comment when the issue surfaced in the media.
The development was first reported in August 2017.
