MS Dhoni and Shahid Afridi in same team to face Rest of the World XI

London, Sep 2: India's ODI captain MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Pakistan's T20I skipper Shahid Afridi and other stars will be in the same team as they face a Rest of the World XI in a charity match this month.

The Twenty20 game involving present and former cricketers will be played at The Kia Oval in London on September 17 (Thursday).

The contest will be between Help for Heroes XI and Rest of the World XI. The Heroes XI is captained by Andrew Strauss while New Zealander Brendon McCullum will lead Rest of the World.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar will manage the Rest of the World side while Heroes XI will be managed by Sir Ian Botham, the former England all-rounder.

"On Thursday, September 17, one of the most popular Indian cricketers of all time, MS Dhoni, will join other world-class stars at The Kia Oval for the inaugural International Help for Heroes fundraiser, Cricket for Heroes," the official website of The Kia Oval said.

Speaking about his participation, Dhoni said, "I am delighted to be joining so many cricketing superstars at the Kia Oval on Thursday September 17 and supporting such a worthy cause.

"I've always enjoyed playing cricket in England and I would urge all sports fans to support Help for Heroes on September 17 and watch some truly world class performers in action."

Rest of the World XI: Brendon McCullum (captain), Brian Lara, Matthew Hayden, Mahela Jayawardene, Graeme Smith, Scott Styris, Daniel Vettori, Shapoor Zadran, Abdul Razzaq, Tim Southee, Major Storm Green. Coach: Gary Kirsten. Manager: Sunil Gavaskar.
