'MS Dhoni should walk away....': Chennai's Own Boy makes Bold Claim on CSK Supremo

By MyKhel Staff

The IPL 2025 season has been particularly challenging for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), marking one of their poorest performances in the tournament's history.

Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, who resumed captaincy mid-season due to Ruturaj Gaikwad's injury, CSK has struggled significantly, securing only three wins out of 13 matches and facing the prospect of finishing at the bottom of the points table- a first for the franchise.

A notable concern has been CSK's inability to defend totals, having lost all five matches where they batted first. The team's batting lineup has underperformed, with key players like Rahul Tripathi, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Devon Conway failing to make significant contributions. Additionally, the bowling unit has lacked consistency, further compounding the team's woes.

In light of these struggles, former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth has voiced strong opinions regarding Dhoni's current form and role within the team. Dhoni, currently 43, is still toiling with CSK and has been a mainstay at the franchise. His batting form has been lacking, while the captaincy has also failed to produce results.

Amid this, Srikkanth has voiced strong opinions against Dhoni, advising him to leave IPL if he is unable to continue.

"The problem with CSK today is that Dhoni is not able to replicate his own game. Spinners are tying him down. Once, he used to hit off spinners 10 rows into the stands. In all fairness, he is struggling," Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

The former India player, who hails from Chennai, also suggested that Dhoni should consider stepping away if he feels unable to perform at his previous standards.

"Dhoni is also ageing, you can't expect too much from him. But at the same time, you can't keep coming and messing it up. If you are not able to do it, say you're not able to do it and walk away. That's a call Dhoni can only take," he added.

The former India captain hasn't yet taken any decision on his future, and it is to be seen if he returns in the Yellow of CSK next season.
