Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are two of the most successful captains in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, having helped their respective teams Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to multiple titles.
In a league in which many teams have struggled to land even one title despite competing since the inception of IPL in 2008, MS Dhoni and Rohit have led their teams to the title at least nine times between each other.

While Dhoni has led CSK to the title four times so far, Rohit, who has lifted the title 6 times with two different franchises, has captained Mumbai Indians to a record five IPL title triumphs in the 15 seasons so far.
Rohit won the IPL as a player in 2009 season when he played for now defunct Deccan Chargers franchise. Dhoni too went close to clinching the title with a different team when he reached the final, playing for now defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017 season.
The two of the most decorated sides - CSK and MI - have also reached the final most in 15 seasons. While CSK and Dhoni reached the final nine times, Rohit's MI has reached the summit clash 6 times. CSK have won 4 in nine finals, while MI has won 5 of 6 finals.
The two seasoned stars, who have made over 200 appearances in IPL, are also among the top run-scorers and other stats in the cash-rich league. Dhoni has made the most appearance. Rohit is the highest Indian six-hitter in the league.
