Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni rocked social media with a Facebook post on Monday (March 4).
The ex-India captain took to Facebook and made a cryptic post, which put the fans in frenzy mode.

"Can't wait for the new season and the new 'role'. Stay tuned!" Dhoni wrote. Although it was unclear what he meant about the new season, it looks likely that the ex-India player was talking about IPL 2024.
His 'new role' comment went viral on social media and the fans started to speculate on his future. Dhoni, who was poised to retire from IPL last year announced that he will be playing at least another year, much to the relief of his millions of fans.
And as Dhoni has heated up the discussions with another humdinger, MyKhel tried to find probable explanations.
Here are three possible explanations of what MS Dhoni meant about a 'new role' for the new season.
MS Dhoni is definitely in the twilight of his career. This season can be the swansong for the former India captain in the IPL. The new role can be a coaching job that Dhoni may take with CSK in the coming years. It could be something like a stepping stone to his coaching role, which he can sharpen this entire season with CSK. So is it something related to him coming into coaching? It definitely can be.

Dhoni has previously left the CSK captaincy, when he relinquished from the role in favour of Ravindra Jadeja. But a mid-season change was made after a string of defeats and Dhoni has been leading the team since.
But he may well be playing the last couple of years with the captaincy burden off his back. Although the veteran will be the leader of that team, he may play a mentor role for a new captain who can take CSK forward after his retirement.

This is also a possibility. It may be completely unrelated to cricket. We have seen players hyping things up to promote their brands and other endeavours. It can be a ploy from Captain Cool to entice his fans and then come up with an announcement far away from the 22 yards. Dhoni is already the owner of the Production Company, he reportedly also partnered with his friend for a sports brand - is it something related to ad campaigns? Only time will tell.
