MS Dhoni will play in IPL 2025, confirms CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan

MS Dhoni will play in the IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed on Saturday, October 26. The declaration from Viswanathan comes a day after the former India captain expressed his desire to enjoy playing in his "last few years" of his career.

"When he is ready, what else (do) we want. We are happy," franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz on Saturday. CSK management had been waiting for a confirmation from there former captain since the last few months.

"I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play. When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That's what I want to do. It's not easy," Dhoni was quoted as saying to TOI.

"The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years. I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit," he added.

Dhoni to call Srinivasan to finalise final retention list of CSK

Kasi Viswanathan also confirmed that MS Dhoni would be calling CSK owner N Srinivasan to finalise the final list of players to be retained. As per the rule brought back by the IPL governing council, Dhoni would be retained as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore only.

Ravindra Jadeja is likely to be CSK's number one retention followed by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana, a find of CSK, has reportedly agreed to be the No.3 retention, and his deal with CSK has already been finalised.

Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra and uncapped Sameer Rizvi are four other players. who could be discussed in Dhoni's call to Srinivasan.
