Vijay Hazare Trophy: Mumbai Batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi Hospitalised After On-Field Injury, Discharged

By MyKhel Staff

Mumbai batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was discharged from hospital on Friday (December 26) after medical reports came back clear following a concussion sustained during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Mumbai and Uttarakhand.

The incident took place in the 30th over of the second innings, when a slog-sweep from Saurabh Rawat, off a delivery by Tanush Kotian, took a top edge towards deep mid-wicket.

Positioned near the boundary, Raghuvanshi charged in and dived in an attempt to complete a difficult catch but struck his head on the turf, suffering an impact just below the neck.

Mumbai teammates and the medical staff immediately rushed to his aid before the youngster was stretchered off the field and taken to a nearby hospital for scans and further medical assessment. There was a brief delay in arranging the stretcher and ambulance, during which Raghuvanshi appeared visibly uncomfortable and struggled to move his neck, heightening concern on the field.

Subsequent examinations confirmed that the 19-year-old had suffered a concussion, but all medical reports were clear. He was later discharged from hospital and is now doing well, bringing relief to both the Mumbai camp and Indian Premier League followers, with Raghuvanshi being part of the KKR setup.

As per standard concussion protocols, Raghuvanshi is expected to remain under observation, with a cautious approach likely before he returns to competitive cricket. The episode once again underlined the physical risks involved in high-intensity fielding, even as the positive update eased fears around one of Mumbai and KKR's promising young batters.
