Mumbai Indians qualified for the playoffs in the last edition’s IPL under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Usually, they start their journey slowly before finding form at the right time. They finished fourth on the table last season, accumulating 16 points (8 wins, 6 defeats).

They knocked Lucknow Super Giants out of the competition in the Eliminator clash but they surrendered at the hands of Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2. Following IPL 2023, Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as the new MI captain, a decision that shocked the cricket fraternity.

It remains to be seen what the future holds in store for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians will kick-start their 2024 campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 24 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. 1. Suryakumar Yadav

Popularly known as “India’s Mr 360” for his potential to play shots all around the ground, Suryakumar Yadav led the batting attack by example for MI in the IPL 2023 season. Notably, he was the leading run-scorer for MI with 605 runs in 16 games at an average of 43.21 and a terrific strike rate of 181.13. It is worth noting that he smacked 5 fifties and 1 ton to his name.

2. Cameron Green

Cameron Green who was roped in by MI for a staggering INR 17.5 crore at the IPL 2023 auction justified his price tag with impactful all-round performances last season. He scored 452 runs including 1 century and 2 fifties at an average of 50.22 with a healthy strike rate of 160.28 and took 6 wickets. Mumbai Indians didn't have enough money left in their wallet to bring Hardik Pandya back. As a result, they had to trade Cameron Green to RCB for the next season.

3. Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla is known for his ability to break partnerships and offer breakthroughs has been a hallmark of his cricketing venture. The 35-year-old spun the web for Mumbai Indians and deservedly finished as the club’s leading wicket-taker with 22 wickets. Overall, he has taken 179 wickets in 181 appearances. He will be looking forward to making an impact for MI in the next season.

4. Akash Madhwal

In the last season, Mumbai Indians were devoid of potent fast bowling options as Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah didn’t feature for the franchise. Akash Madhwal burst onto the scene in Archer and Bumrah’s absence wherein he took 14 wickets. His best performance came against Lucknow Super Giants wherein he registered 5/5 in the Eliminator clash and the 30-year-old has been retained by the franchise.

5. Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma carved out a reputation for himself as one of the top young attacking batsmen in the IPL. Notably, he had a pretty decent campaign last time wherein he mustered 343 runs in 11 games at an average of 42.87 with a superb strike rate of 164.11 including one fifty. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the auction and will be looking forward to expressing himself in the upcoming season.
