Hardik Pandya is set to captain Mumbai Indians against Rajasthan Royals on Monday (April 1) at the Wankhede Stadium.
After the much debated and controversial appointment as Mumbai Indians captain, life hasn't started very smoothly for Hardik Pandya as the five-time IPL champions have lost their first two matches.

It will be interesting to see how Hardik Pandya gets the reception at Wankhede, but one thing is for sure, the Paltans will have to get back to winning ways. As the highly anticipated match takes place in a few hours, let's have a look how it all started for Rohit Sharma as a Mumbai Indians captain.
In the IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians appointed Ricky Ponting as captain. Under the Australian, MI lost three of their first six matches and the veteran Aussie player decided to step down from captaincy.
Rohit Sharma captained MI for the first time in the IPL against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens and started off with a victory.
Rohit Sharma's start as IPL captain at the Wankhede Stadium was a sweet one. On April 27, it was a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rohit Sharma led his team towards a comprehensive victory.
Mumbai batted first and scored 194 for 7 in their 20 overs. In reply, RCB could only manage 136 runs and thus MI registered a huge victory by 58 runs. Rohit scored 10 runs off 8 balls but his captaincy led the team to a victory, which was paramount for them. The Paltans went on to win the IPL that year, their maiden title.
The question for MI will be how to get back to winning ways. Hardik Pandya and his troops will have to step up to get the better of an in-form Rajasthan Royals. Pandya has been under the pump since the beginning, but things can definitely turn around for him and MI at Wankhede Stadium if they implement things properly.
