Mumbai Indians have announced the return of Lasith Malinga as their bowling coach on Friday (October 20).
The former Sri Lanka pacer has returned to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024 and will be guiding Jasprit Bumrah and co. ahead of next season.

Malinga was part of the Rajasthan Royals setup in 2023 but has finally rejoined with the Paltans. The Sri Lanka stalwart played for the five-time IPL champions and has a stellar record for them. Malinga played 122 matches for Mumbai and picked up 170 wickets in the span of 11 years.
Malinga has served as the bowling coach for two other MI franchises - MI New York in the Major League Cricket and MI Cape Town in SA20.
"It is truly an honour for me to be appointed Bowling Coach of Mumbai Indians and my journey in the #OneFamily continues, following MI New York and MI Cape Town. I am looking forward to working closely with Mark, Polly, Rohit and the rest of the team, especially the bowling unit, whose approach I loved last season, and the young MI talent that has the potential to excel, backed by the passionate MI Paltan," Malinga was quoted as saying by Mumbai Indians.
The Sri Lanka legend worked as a mentor for Mumbai Indians in 2018 and won four IPL titles during his playing days with the Paltans. He will join the likes of Mark Boucher and Kieron Pollard in MI's star-studded coaching staff.
