In a rematch from the inaugural edition's final, champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and runners up Delhi Capitals (DC) will lock horns in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 opener on Friday (February 23) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Both Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals and Harmanpreet Kaur's Mumbai Indians will look to get their campaigns off to a positive start like last season when they blew away their opponents in their openers. But there can be only winner this time around as they face each other in the curtain-raiser.

Now, the two best sides of the inaugural Women's Premier League, DC and MI will get the second edition up and going in Bengaluru, where they will meet for the first time, having met previously in Mumbai during season 1.
During season 1 the round robin stage, MI won the first encounter against DC, while DC avenged that loss in the reverse fixture. Both the matches were played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
In the first fixture, Saika Ishaque, Issy Wong and Hayley Matthews starred with the ball as Mumbai Indians bundled out Delhi Capitals for 105 despite Lanning's 43. In response, Yastika Bhatia's 41 off 32 balls powered MI to an 8-wicket win with 5 overs to spare.
In the reverse fixture, Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey and Alice Capsey took two wickets each to restrict MI to 109/8. In the chase, Sahafali Verma, Lanning and Capsey played quickfire knocks to power DC to a 9-wicket win with 11 overs to spare.
The two sides then clashed in the final, where Matthews figures of 3 for 5 in 4 overs helped restrict DC to 131 before Nat Sciver-Brunt's unbeaten 60 off 55 balls sealed the title for MI with 7 wickets and 3 balls to spare.
