Munda prasies Dhoni, expresses concern at J'khand's sports scenario

Ranchi, Sep 26 (UNI) Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today lauded India cricket captain M S Dhoni for his team's splendid performance at T20 World Cup at South Africa, saying the lad from the state has elevated the country's status to an enviable position.

However, Mr Munda, also the Leader of Opposition, expressed concern over the younger generation's future in sports in the state, saying the Madhu Koda-led UPA government did not have any vision to promote sports.

As the state was scheduled to host next National Games, due later this year, there was no progress in infrastructure developemnt for the mega event that belied all tall talks of the government, Mr Munda said at a press confenece here.

Even the high-level central team who visited the state to take stock of the progress of various developmental schemes expressed concern over non-expenditure of money allocated for sports, he said.

He hoped the government would take remedial measures on a war footing to boost the morale of the younger lot and make the National Games a success.
