Bangladesh's veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim became the first cricketer from the nation to be dismissed for obstructing the field during the opening day of the second Test match against New Zealand at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
The 36-year-old wicket-keeper batter used his hands while standing around the stumps while facing pacer Kyle Jamieson. The comical moment drew hilarious reactions from fans around the globe, we take a look at a few such reactions on X, formerly Twitter.

In international cricket, very few players have been removed from the game for handling the ball. Rahim was the eleventh player to be sent back to the locker room for making a hand gesture while a delivery was still alive. He joined the likes of Mohinder Amarnath, Mohsin Khan, and Michael Vaughan among others.
Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the pavilion after scoring 35 runs from 83 balls. The fact that the ball wasn't even going to touch the stumps before Rahim used his hands to divert it away confused fans on social media. The third umpire was consulted in the matter and determined to rule in favor of the bowling team.
As per the rule book, (A) Either batsman is out Handled the ball if he wilfully touches the ball while in play with a hand or hands not holding the bat unless he does so with the consent of a fielder. (B) Either batsman is out under this Law if, while the ball is in play, and without the consent of a fielder, he uses his hand or hands not holding the bat to return the ball to any fielder.
Not out Handled the ball: Notwithstanding (a) above, a batsman will not be out under this Law if he handles the ball to avoid injury. Also to be noted that the bowler doesn't get the credit for the dismissal
