Muthoot Fincorp Takes Over as New Sponsor of Indian Cricket

Muthoot Fincorp has acquired the title sponsorship rights for India's home cricket season for the next two seasons, with the partnership set to run until March 31, 2028.

The Kochi-based financial services company is understood to have secured the rights at a base price of ₹4.85 crore per match, although the final value could be lower following negotiations with the BCCI. The deal will cover approximately 35 home internationals, including 10 Tests, 12 ODIs and 13 T20Is.

The partnership will come into effect from India's upcoming ODI series against the West Indies, which begins on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram.

Muthoot Fincorp takes over from IDFC First Bank

Muthoot Fincorp succeeds IDFC First Bank as the title sponsor of Indian cricket's home season.

IDFC First Bank had been paying ₹4.2 crore per match under its previous agreement. The BCCI had initially sought a higher base price of ₹4.85 crore per match for the new rights cycle.

The tender process did not attract serious bidders by the August 13 deadline, with industry sources linking the lack of interest partly to the asking price.

With no competitive bids emerging, the BCCI moved into direct negotiations with prospective sponsors.

## BCCI held talks with multiple companies

The board is understood to have approached several companies during the process, including Google Gemini, IDFC First Bank, Spinny and SBI Life.

SBI Life ultimately agreed to become an Associate Partner of the BCCI, alongside Campa and ChatGPT, with their respective agreements running for two seasons through March 2028.

Muthoot Fincorp subsequently emerged as the new title sponsor for India's home international and domestic fixtures.

Deal covers around 35 home internationals

The agreement will cover all international and domestic matches played in India until March 31, 2028.

Around 35 home internationals are expected to fall under the deal, comprising:

  • 10 Tests
  • 12 ODIs
  • 13 T20Is

The sponsorship will therefore span India's home calendar across all three international formats.

Partnership begins in Muthoot's home state

The timing of the agreement carries an added connection for Muthoot Fincorp, with the first series under the new partnership beginning in Kerala.

India's three-match ODI series against the West Indies gets underway on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram. The opening match will be played in Muthoot Fincorp's home state.

The new title sponsorship will be visible from the West Indies series onwards, marking the start of the company's two-season association with Indian cricket.
