India players had their battle against Zimbabwe but had the West Indies vs South Africa match in their mind on Thursday (February 26).
India delivered a dominant performance in the T20 World Cup Super Eights, defeating Zimbabwe convincingly at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. Batting first, the Indian team unleashed an explosive display, posting a massive total of 256 that showcased aggressive strokeplay from the top order right through to the finish.

They won the match by 72 runs, thus keeping their hopes of semifinals alive while Zimbabwe got eliminated.
Adding to the drama, Indian players and support staff were glued to updates from the West Indies-South Africa match, whether on phones during travel or in the team hotel, before heading out for their own game.
Arshdeep Singh later shared a light-hearted story about his father's animated reactions while watching the match back home, capturing the nerves and passion surrounding the tournament. The India player revealed that his father was hurling abuse when West Indies were clearing the ropes.
"We didn't watch the whole thing, but it was certainly a see-saw affair," Arshdeep said after the match.
"My family was with me in the hotel room and whenever the West Indies batters smashed a six, my father started shouting: 'What on earth are you doing?'. He was hurling abuse. I had to settle him down and tell him not to get so worked up. I told him to just enjoy the cricket and keep praying for a South African win," the India bowler added.
Arshdeep Singh played his part with the ball for India. The left-arm pacer struck thrice in the match and thus claimed top spot as Indian bowler for T20 World Cup wickets.
