Mysore Sandal lands Dhoni in trouble

By Staff
Bangalore, Feb 23: MS Dhoni is set to earn millions for few week's work in IPL. But he may shell out a small portion of it as damages to the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL) as the state-owned soap company served a legal notice to Team India's one-day captain alleging breach of contract.

KSDL has issued a legal notice to Dhoni and his endorsing company, Gameplan Sports Private Limited claiming Rs 40 lakhs as damages.
Dhoni was appointed as the brand ambassador for KSDL's flagship product Mysore Sandal Soap for two years in 2006 and the dashing batsman from Ranchi was to give 5 days to the company in one year. But he failed to meet this condition and was available only for three days, claim KSDL officials.

The deal was signed between Gameplan and KSDL for 84.85 lakh. Only Rs 64.42 lakh was paid during the agreement, with a promise to pay the balance after completion of dates with the company.

Though the contract was to end in January 2008, KSDL terminated the deal in December 2007.
