Bengaluru, September 5: Home side Mysuru Warriors managed to ward off the strong challenge of Bijapur Bulls by four runs in their Karnataka Premier League match in Mysuru on Monday night (September 4).
Batting first, Warriors made 150 all out with a ball to spare before restricting Bulls to 146 for five. Vysakh Vijayakumar was adjudged man of the match for his spell of two for 17.
Match was nerve wracking enough and it also saw some records being established and some being shattered.
Warriors captain Karun Nair (812) joined the 800-run club in the KPL to become the sixth batsman to do so. Others in the league are: Mayank Agarwal (1165), KB Pawan (827), R Jonathan (823), Amit Verma (819) and R Samarth (802).
Bulls too had a moment of pride when KC Cariappa grabbed his 30th KPL wicket. He is the eighth bowler to achieve the landmark. Other are: K Gowtham (48), R Vinay Kumar (43), J Suchitch (42), VV Kumar (35), Amit Verma (34), NC Aiyappa (31), SL Akshay (31).
Though the Bulls lost the match by a whisker, their fourth-wicket pair of D Negi and M Nidesh broke the record of the highest partnership for the fourth wicket in the KPL.
While adding 100 runs, Nidesh and Negi bettered the previous mark of 97 set by Sunil Kumar Jain and B Akhil for Provident against Bangalore Brigadiers in 2009.
