Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad Pitch Report & Weather Forecast for ENG vs AUS ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Match 36

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will stage it's third match of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 on Saturday (November 4) when Ashes rivals England and Australia clash in match 36 of the tournament.

England led by Jos Buttler come into the match on the back of one win and four defeats to leave them on the brink of an exit from the show-piece tournament, while Pat Cummins' Australia, who are in a good position to finish in the top four, have won four and lost two so far.

In the recent outing, England were humiliated by hosts India as they failed to chase down 230, folding up for 129 on a testing surface at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, while Australia stopped New Zealand from pulling off a record chase on a flat surface at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

Now, the two sides are set to clash on a surface that is going to be a treat for the batters, but is expected to assist some disciplined bowling as well, especially the new ball bowlers and the spinners in the middle overs.

Weather has not interrupted England's matches so far in the World Cup, but Australia's game against Sri Lanka in Lucknow saw a small interruption due to rain, which, however, did not affect the match.

The Ahmedabad venue has seen mixed results recently. And the heat in the afternoon could play a factor. So, how will the weather and pitch conditions be for ENG vs AUS clash in Ahmedabad? Will rain or any other weather condition play spoilsport? Will dew be a factor in the match?

With some parts of India witnessing showers due to the retreating monsoon, here is a look at the Ahmedabad weather forecast and the Narendra Modi Stadium pitch report for ENG vs AUS 36th ICC World Cup match:

Ahmedabad Weather Forecast on November 4

There is no threat of rain in Ahmedabad on Saturday (November 4). In fact, it is going to be a sunny day with temperatures touching 35° C in the afternoon, but is expected to reduce to 27° C heading into the closing stages of the match. So, weather is unlikely to play spoilsport.

Like many other venues, dew is likely to have an impact in the games in Ahmedabad, meaning the team chasing could have an extra advantage in the closing stages of the game. But, how is the Ahmedabad wicket going to play?

Narendra Modi Stadium pitch report for ENG vs AUS World Cup 2023 match

There are 11 pitches at the Narendra Modi Stadium - 5 black soil and 5 a mixture of three types of soil, while the other is a mixed of two types of soil. The black soil pitches are known to produce more bounce, allowing free run-scoring opportunities.

Red soil pitches, on the other hand, are known to dry up soon and assist the slower bowlers or spinners as the match progresses. The one with the mixture of both is expected to be even. The one used in the opening game, remained good for batting for the most part of the match.

The second match, however, saw the team batting first collapse after decent start and the team chasing eased to the target, levelling the record for teams chasing and batting first winning the match at the venue. With dew expected later in the night, captain may opt to chase on the batting friendly pitches in Ahmedabad.
