Now, the most intense rivalry in sport will take place in Ahmedabad, where there was a sketchy weather in store. So, how will the weather and pitch conditions be for IND vs PAK clash in Ahmedabad? Will rain have an impact? Will dew be a factor in the match?
With some parts of India witnessing showers due to the retreating monsoon, here is a look at the Ahmedabad weather forecast and the Narendra Modi Stadium pitch report for IND vs PAK 11th ICC World Cup match:
Weather is unlikely to affect the match between India and Pakistan on October 14 with the IMD indicating that there are no signs of rainfall on Saturday, dispelling earlier predictions of drizzling in the southern parts of Ahmedabad.
The IMD's latest statement assures clear skies and rules out any possibility of rain for the next 48 hours, setting the stage for an uninterrupted and action-packed contest.
AccuWeather forecasts a mostly sunny and warm day in Ahmedabad on October 14. The maximum temperature is expected to be 36° C at the start of play and is expected to reduce to 30° C by the close of play.
As per the latest forecast from Weather Channel India, it will be partly cloudy, but there is no chance of percipitation, meaning a full game without interruption could be played on Saturday (October 14) in Ahmedabad.
The temperatures will touch 35°C. So, rain is unlikely to have any affect on the match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But, how will the pitch behave? Is dew going to be a factor?
There are 11 pitches at the Narendra Modi Stadium - 5 black soil and 5 a mixture of three types of soil, while the other is a mixed of two types of soil. The black soil pitches are known to produce more bounce, allowing free run-scoring opportunities.
Red soil pitches, on the other hand, are known to dry up soon and assist the slower bowlers or spinners as the match progresses. The one with the mixture of both is expected to be even.
The one used in the opening game, remained good for batting for the most part of the match. A similar surface could be used for the India vs Pakistan match. So, batters can expect to score without trouble under lights, especially when dew sets in.
In the first innings, the bowlers - both quick and spinner - can keep the run-scoring in check when they hit the right areas. When it comes to spin, India have the upper-hand. So, the toss becomes crucial as the chasing team may have a slight advantage in the match.
