Narendra Modi Stadium Stats and Records: The world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad, kicked off the ICC World Cup 2023 with 2019 Final rematch as champions England lost to runners up New Zealand in the show-piece tournament opener on October 5.
Apart from the opener, the largest sports stadium in the world also hosted the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan thriller and will present the World Cup's climax final. In total the venue will host five matches - all day & night encounters - during the show-piece tournament.

The 132,000-capacity venue, renovated in 2021, is no stranger to history and a big occasion - in March 1987, Sunil Gavaskar became the first batter to breach the 10,000-Test run mark at the venue.
Decades later, the stadium has hosted IPL finals and, in 2011, the last time that a World Cup was played in India, the hosts broke Australia's streak of making the final of every ODI World Cup since 1996.
In total, the venue, which was formerly known as Motera, has so far hosted five World Cup matches - 1 in 1996 and 3 in 2011. In 1996, New Zealand beat England by 11 runs.
In 2011, India beat Australia 5 wickets, while New Zealand beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets, and Australia beat Zimbabwe by 91 runs. These three results came in the World Cup.
Only four ODI matches were hosted at the venue since then, with one in 2014, and three-match series against West Indies most recently in 2022. Later, in 2023 World Cup opener, New Zealand defeated England by 9 wickets, while India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets and Australia beat England by 33 runs.
