Nazeem urges Aiyar to ensure PCA's membership in BCCI
Puducherry, Jan 10 (UNI) The leader of the opposition A M H Nazeem today urged to initiate discussion with BCCI President Sharad Pawar for the admission of the Puducherry Cricket Association (PCA) as a member of the national cricketing body.
In a memorandum submitted to the Union Minister for Youth and Sports Mani Shankar Aiyer, who visited Karaikal today, Mr Nazeem pointed out that over 40 years the Union Territory did not have direct representation in the BCCI, though it was a partner of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), which has treated PCA as one of its district associations.
Mr Nazeem alleged that the PCA has suffered a lot and the carrer of many youth were spoiled because of the ''step motherly'' treatment meted out by the TNCA Pointing out several benefits and ways for the development of cricket here, if Puducherry became a member of the BCCI, he regretted that except cricket, Puducherry has national-level representation in other games. Though Goa, Delhi and some small states were admitted as members of BCCI, Puducherry was denied its membership due to TNCA's vindictive attitude, he alleged.
