Need to be on top of our game for full match to win: Tendulkar

By Staff

Mumbai, May 15 (UNI) Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar today said his team will have to be on top during the game against Kolkata Knight Riders in the DLF Indian Premier League match, to be played at the Wankhede stadium, here tomorrow.

''We will have to be on top of our game for the full 40 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders to have hopes of winning the game,'' said Tendulkar, while addressing a news conference here, on the eve of their much-awaited tie.

Sachin said the team's morale is high after four straight wins with the attitude of the boys being terrific.

''We will be looking to continue our winning streak,'' he hoped.

To a query on whether they are now looking at earning a place in the semis after a horrendous start with four straight defeats at the beginning of the tournament, he said they were not looking that far ahead and only looking at the immediate match.

''We are taking small steps by concentrating at one match at a time, just now we are only looking at tomorrow's match against Kolkata Knight Riders,'' the Mumbai Indians captain said.

Asked about Shoaib Akhtar and Ishant Sharma spearheading the attack for the Knight Riders, Tendulkar admitted that both were class attacks, and said ''we also have the batsmen capable of taking on any attack.'' On the mini contests in the game like between him and Shoaib and Sourav Ganguly and Shaun Pollock, the master blaster said he never believes in contests between individuals, it is the team which performs well that wins.

Sachin also praised the innings of Sanath Jayasuriya yesterday, saying he showed why he is such a dangerous player.

''At the beginning of the tournament, he was not getting the momentum going in his favour, but now he has got it and it only augurs well for us,'' he added.
