Diana Edulji Celebrates Neetu David's Well-Deserved Induction into ICC Hall of Fame

Neetu David has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, joining former India captain Diana Edulji. Edulji expressed her admiration for David, a fellow left-arm spinner, in an open letter.

She praised David's skills and contributions to Indian cricket, highlighting her as a deserving inductee. Edulji herself was the first Indian woman to receive this honour last November.

Edulji recalled seeing David bowl as a teenager and being impressed by her style and rhythm. She believed David was destined for greatness and played a role in bringing her to Railways, where she later represented India. "It seems only yesterday that I saw you bowling in the nets as a teenager," Edulji wrote. "I knew then that I had to try and bring you to Railways and that you would go onto play for India."

David's Achievements in Cricket

David, now 47, is India's second-highest wicket-taker in ODIs with 141 wickets. She was also the first Indian woman to reach 100 wickets in this format. Edulji noted that their shared role as left-arm spinners limited their time playing together but appreciated watching David succeed her after retirement.

Edulji described David as one of the best spinners she had ever seen, praising her technique and skill. "To me, you were one of the best spinners I have ever seen," she stated. "Your technique and skill that allowed you to generate such flight and dip was par excellence."

Special Bond Between Inductees

The induction of both women creates a unique bond between them, with Edulji expressing joy at welcoming David into this exclusive club. She acknowledged the significance of being among the few Indian women honoured in this way and anticipated more Indian women joining them in the future.

Edulji concluded by acknowledging David's influence on future generations of Indian female cricketers. She expressed confidence that many would achieve success on the cricket field because of David's contributions. "I know the number of Indian women in the Hall of Fame will only increase in the coming years," Edulji added.

This recognition highlights Neetu David's remarkable career and impact on Indian women's cricket, solidifying her legacy alongside Diana Edulji in the ICC Hall of Fame.
