The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier semi-finals brought exhilarating cricket action to the forefront, resulting in Nepal's impressive eight-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman's emphatic 10-wicket win over Bahrain.
These victories secured their spots in the ninth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) next year. This upcoming event will mark the largest Men's T20 World Cup in history, featuring a total of 20 teams, a first for this prestigious tournament.

Nepal, spurred on by their enthusiastic home crowd at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, achieved a magnificent win over the UAE. Despite the visitors' decision to bat first, they were limited to a total of 134/9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Vriitya Aravind's determined 51-ball 64 (including 8 boundaries and 2 sixes) being the standout performance. UAE's skipper, Muhammad Waseem, contributed 26 runs from 16 deliveries.
Nepal's bowler, Kushal Malla, was the star of the show, claiming three crucial wickets for just 11 runs in his three-over spell. The experienced Sandeep Lamichhane also played his part with a 2/14 performance in his four overs.
In response, Nepal's wicketkeeper and eventual Player of the Match, Aasif Sheikh (64* off 51), joined forces with the team's captain, Rohit Paudel (34* off 20), in an unbeaten 68-run partnership for the third wicket. Their efforts ensured a comfortable victory for Nepal with 17 balls to spare.
Meanwhile, in Kirtipur, Bahrain elected to bat first and struggled, eventually posting a total of 106/9. Aqib Iiyas put on a brilliant display, taking four wickets for just 10 runs, while Shakeel Ahmed contributed with 2/24. Although Imran Ali, Ahmer Bin Nisar, and Sarfaraz Ali managed to score 30, 26, and 23 runs, respectively, none of them could propel their team further.
Oman's reply was swift and decisive as openers Kashyap Prajapati (57* off 44) and Pratik Athavale (50* off 42) both reached half-centuries. Oman reached their target in just 14.2 overs, securing a comprehensive 10-wicket victory with 34 balls to spare.
With Nepal and Oman earning their spots in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, 18 teams have now qualified for the main event. The Africa qualifier, scheduled to take place in Namibia from November 20 to 30, 2023, will determine the last two teams to join this cricket extravaganza.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 will make history by featuring 20 teams divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight phase, where the remaining teams will be split into two groups of four. The top two from each group will progress to the semi-finals, leading to the highly anticipated final showdown.
