Nepal Create T20I History Again: Every Major Record Broken As They Become First Team To Score 300 Runs Twice

The rise of Nepal in world cricket has often been described as inspirational. On Saturday (May 30), it became historic once again.

The Associate nation rewrote the T20 international record books by becoming the first team in men's T20I history to breach the 300-run mark on two separate occasions, underlining their growing reputation as one of the most explosive batting sides in the format.

Nepal Create T20I History Again Every Major Record Broken As They Become First Team To Score 300 Runs Twice

Having already stunned the cricketing world with their record-breaking 314/3 against Mongolia during the 2023 Asian Games, Nepal once again crossed the magical barrier with a stunning 313/2 against China. No international team has ever managed to score 300-plus runs twice in men's T20 internationals.

For a nation that only made its T20 World Cup return in 2024 after a decade-long wait, the achievement represents another major milestone in its remarkable cricketing journey.

First Team Ever To Score 300+ Twice In T20Is

The most significant record belongs to Nepal's team batting aggregate.

No men's international side had previously managed to score 300 or more runs in T20 internationals on two separate occasions.

Powerhouses like India, England, Australia, South Africa and West Indies have all produced massive totals in the format, but none had managed to breach the 300 barrier twice.

Nepal now stand alone.

The feat becomes even more extraordinary considering they were also the first team ever to score 300 in a men's T20 international.

Nepal's latest 313/2 against China in May 2026 made them the first men's team in T20I history to score 300 or more runs in two separate international matches. Their first 300-plus total came in September 2023, when they smashed 314/3 against Mongolia, a score that was then the highest total ever recorded in men's T20I cricket.

Five Highest Totals In Men's T20I History

Rank Team Opponent Score Year
1 Zimbabwe Gambia 344/4 October 2024
2 Nepal Mongolia 314/3 September 2023
3 Nepal China 313/2 May 2026
4 Germany Austria 308/1 May 2026
5 England South Africa 304/2 September 2025

Nepal's 314 Against Mongolia Still Remains One Of T20 Cricket's Greatest Record Days

The roots of this latest achievement trace back to Hangzhou in 2023, when Nepal produced arguably the most statistically outrageous batting performance ever witnessed in T20 internationals.

Their 314/3 against Mongolia shattered Afghanistan's previous world record of 278/3 and made Nepal the first men's side to cross 300 in the format. That innings triggered a cascade of world records.

  • First team ever to score 300+ in a men's T20I.
  • Highest T20I total at the time: 314/3.
  • Most sixes in a T20I innings (26).
  • Largest victory margin in men's T20I history (273 runs).
  • Fastest T20I century by Kushal Malla (34 balls).
  • Fastest T20I fifty by Dipendra Singh Airee (9 balls).

Very few matches in cricket history have generated so many global records in a single day.

Kushal Bhurtel Adds Another Historic Chapter

Nepal's latest batting explosion against China was driven by opener Kushal Bhurtel, who produced one of the most destructive innings ever seen in T20 international cricket.

Bhurtel hammered a stunning 129 off just 43 deliveries as Nepal piled up 313/2, the third-highest total in men's T20I history and their second 300-plus score in international cricket.

The innings became even more historic when Bhurtel smashed six consecutive sixes in an over, joining an elite club that includes Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Herschelle Gibbs and Dipendra Singh Airee.

Bhurtel eventually finished with 16 sixes in the innings as China's bowling attack struggled to contain Nepal's relentless aggression.

The knock once again reflected Nepal's fearless batting identity - an approach built around attacking intent, boundary-hitting, and a refusal to be constrained by cricketing hierarchies.
