‘New Era’ For Telangana Cricket As TG20 Auction Sees Tilak Varma, Siraj Headline Signings

Tilak Varma, Mohammed Siraj and CV Milind headlined the major signings as the inaugural TG20 Player Auction marked the beginning of a new chapter in Telangana cricket on Sunday. Franchises made aggressive moves to secure top talent, setting the tone for a competitive first season.

Held at the Princess Convention Centre in Ramoji Film City, the auction featured over 1,300 HCA-registered players. Teams built their squads across categories, combining established names with emerging talent as TG20 aims to provide a strong platform for cricket in the state. The auction was conducted by Charu Sharma in the presence of franchise owners and officials.

The inaugural TG20 season will begin on June 21, 2026, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, featuring eight teams competing in 32 matches over 21 days.

Medak Falcons

Medak Falcons made the biggest splash of the auction by signing Tilak Varma for ₹33 lakhs, making him the most expensive player. They further strengthened their squad with the addition of T Raviteja in the Icon category.

Warangal Warriors

Warangal Warriors secured one of India's premier pacers, Mohammed Siraj, for ₹14 lakhs. In the A+ category, they added Aman Rao to bolster their squad.

Anvita Khammam Aces

Anvita Khammam Aces made a significant investment in CV Milind, who became the most expensive uncapped player at ₹17 lakhs. They also added Hima Teja to their roster.

Palamuru Strikers

Palamuru Strikers picked up key players including Ravi Kiran and Rohit Rayudu in the Icon category. They also secured Pragnay Reddy as part of their A+ signings.

Pranava Ranga Reddy Risers

The franchise added Tanay Thyagarajan as their marquee Icon player, strengthening their core with an experienced all-round option.

Anurag Nalgonda Knights

Rahul Buddhi was the standout signing for Anurag Nalgonda Knights in the Icon category.

Karimnagar Diamonds

Karimnagar Diamonds brought in Tanmay Agarwal as their key Icon player. They also added Chandan Sahani as part of their A category acquisitions.

Hyderabad e-Champions

Hyderabad e-Champions secured Ajay Dev Goud in the A+ category and added Pranav Varma among their emerging player signings.

Top A+ and A Category Highlights Across Teams

Other notable A+ signings included Nitin Sai Yadav, Aaron George and Rakshann Readdi across franchises. In the A category, Arfaz Ahmed and Abhirath Reddy emerged as the joint-highest buys at ₹11 lakhs each, underlining the depth of young talent in the league.
