Sydney, Jan 9: It has been the same story for a long time for Indian bowlers in overseas Tests. Yet again, they have failed. This time it is the worst performance in the history of Test cricket.
;
With the four-Test series against Australia set to conclude tomorrow in Sydney with the ongoing final Test ending, Indian bowlers claimed an unwanted record today.
During the fourth day's play of the 4th Test on Friday, offspinner Ashwin went for 100 plus runs again, in hosts' second innings to give the team a dubious record. (Smith breaks Bradman's record)
Entire series (till today), Indian bowlers have failed to bowl Australia out twice in same Test. The closes they came was in when they had 19. (Controversy over Bhuvneshwar dismissal)
This was the 16th time that an Indian bowler had conceded more than 100 runs in an innings this series. According to statisticians this is the worst ever (16 times 100 plus runs) in Test history.
With batsmen flourishing in the series, both Australia and Indian bowlers have suffered with the hosts still having to bowl tomorrow on the final day of the rubber.
Overall, on 24 (16 India, 8 Australia) occasions bowlers have given away 100 or more runs in an innings in this series. This is a world record, bettering 1924/25 Ashes series, according to statistician Mohandas Menon.
