New Zealand is set for a rematch from 2019 World Cup when they face India in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (November 15).
The Blackcaps, who got their campaign off in style with four wins in four, saw their streak ended by India in the league phase. That result also saw them go on a four-match losing streak before they sneaked through to become the last team to book the semi-final berth in this edition.

The Kiwis opened their campaign with a comprehensive win over the defending champions England, and continued their dominance until they met India. They had to ward away late challenge to reach the last four. So, what's their route to the semi-final in 2023?

New Zealand, who are one of the founding members of the Cricket World Cup, have reached the semi-final stage of the show-piece tournament a record-equalling 9 times in 13 attempts. They have in fact reached the last four in five successive editions since 2007.
The runners up of the last two editions have only missed out on qualifying for the semi-final in four editions. While they made a group stage exit in 1983 and 1987, the Kiwis have reached as far as the super six and quarter-final stage in 1996 and 2003 editions respectively.
