Pakistan vs New Zealand Weather Updates, 2nd T20I: After facing a heavy defeat in the opening clash at Hagley Oval, Pakistan were hoping to bounce back in the second T20I of the five-match series against New Zealand.
But nature has its own plans. The picturesque University Oval in Dunedin is currently under gloomy skies, with persistent drizzle playing spoilsport and delaying the toss for this all-important encounter.

The rain gods have not been kind to cricket fans in Dunedin today. Earlier, the second T20I between New Zealand Women and Sri Lanka Women ended in disappointment after being washed out due to relentless rain. That very same drizzle continues to hover over the venue, threatening to interrupt — or worse, abandon — the men’s game as well.
According to the latest forecast from AccuWeather, there’s a staggering 91% chance of rainfall throughout the day, with cloud cover expected to remain at 99%. Even as the groundsmen briefly removed the covers around 1.27 PM local time, giving fans a glimmer of hope, the drizzle soon returned, forcing another delay. The toss, which was initially scheduled to take place by 1:30 PM local time, remains pending with umpires set for multiple inspections.
At 14:09 local time, there was a moment of relief as the covers came off and the umpires, alongside New Zealand skipper Michael Bracewell and key players like Tim Seifert and Luke Ronchi, ventured out to assess the conditions. An inspection was slated for 14:30 local, but by 14:03 local time, the rain was back. A second inspection is now planned for 15:00 local, with everyone hoping for a break in the showers.
The hosts come into this match on the back of a dominant nine-wicket victory in the first T20I. Pakistan, struggling with the bat, could only manage 91 runs, thanks to a spirited 30-run knock from Khushdil Shah. New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy was the star with the ball, bagging four wickets, while Kyle Jamieson and Ish Sodhi provided superb support. Tim Seifert (44 off 29) and Finn Allen (29* off 21) made light work of the chase in just 10.1 overs.
The weather continues to play the villain as both teams remain in the dressing rooms, awaiting the toss. For Pakistan, this game is a must-win to keep the series alive. A win for New Zealand would put them 2-0 up and firmly in control, leaving Pakistan with an uphill task in the remaining fixtures.
