Daryll, who opens as well, also performed with the bat as he scored 47 runs while fellow opener Fin Allen hit his fifth ODI half-century. Debutant Rachin Ravindra impressed as well as he missed out on a half-century on debut by just a run while Glenn Phillips contributed a further 39. Stand-in skipper Tom Latham, who also led the team during the white-ball series in India, could only score 5 runs and will look to change that in the next game.

Among Lankans, the positives were a few but there was at least something to talk about in Chamika Gunaratne. The pacer took four wickets in the last game and also scored runs in double-digits, something that only two Island batters achieved in the embarrassing loss.

The washout in the last game also hurt Sri Lanka's chances of direct qualification to the 50-over World Cup later in the year in India as they are currently placed ninth in the ODI Super League behind West Indies, who are six points ahead of the Islanders. The top eight are guaranteed a direct entry into the World Cup. New Zealand, among other top cricket nations, have already qualified.
