2017 is not a year that Rohit Sharma will forget anytime soon. The flamboyant Indian opener was handed the captaincy of the national team, in absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli.
And Rohit made it a memorable maiden series as a skipper as he scored his third career double century in the just concluded Sri Lanka ODI series. It propeled him to the fifth spot in the latest ODI ranking as a batsman.
No other barsman has registered a score of 200 more than once in the 50-over format. Rohit now has three to his name.
Following the ODI series win against Lanka, Rohit was lauded for his captaincy as he guided the Indian team to a series win, after losing the shock loss in the opening match. It also marked Rohit's first series win as a captain.
