India's T20 World Cup 2024 assignment is on the right course so far. The Indian team has already secured three group stage wins and are through to the Super Eights of the tournament.
Immediately after the World Cup, team India will travel to Zimbabwe to play in a T20I series. They will play five T20 matches, starting from July 6.

A number of players from the current T20 World Cup squad are expected to be rested for that series. It has been a long season for the Indian team which started with the England Test series at home.
With the Men in Blue finishing their season in Zimbabwe, selectors are set to send a young squad there. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah won't play any part in it. Ravindra Jadeja and Suryakumar Yadav - two other mainstays of the India team are also expected to be omitted from the squad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is a name who may take over the reins for captaincy in the Zimbabwe tour. He captained Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and is likely to be given an opportunity for this series. Also Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer is in the race. The KKR skipper led his team to an IPL triumph this season and may reunite with his KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir, who is set to be next head coach of the Indian team.
The youngsters such as Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag are expected to be in the team for the Zimbabwe tour. Both Sharma and Parag had an outstanding IPL season and are poised to make their India debuts in the tour.
Nitish Reddy, who was handed the Emerging Player award in IPL 2024 may get a chance. Sanju Samson may be the sole wicketkeeper for team India while Lucknow Super Giants speedster Mayank Yadav may also be included.
