Mumbai Indians' stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav was left in splits while addressing a question on MS Dhoni during a pre-match press conference ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings.
The star batter, leading MI in the absence of Hardik Pandya, was asked about his plans to "control" MS Dhoni-prompting a hilarious response.

"Has anyone ever been able to control Dhoni in so many years?" Suryakumar chuckled, addressing the media in Chennai. "It's always an excitement when you come to Chennai and watch him come out of the dressing room. You learn so many good things from him, and we still do whenever we get an opportunity to chat with him. I'm excited to see him again, but I will be leading against him, so it will be a good challenge."
The cheeky response was met with laughter, showing Dhoni's ever-dominant aura in the IPL, even as he plays under the "uncapped" category this season. In a surprising technicality this season, MS Dhoni has been designated as an "uncapped" player for IPL 2025 under BCCI's reinstated rule, which classifies cricketers who haven't played international matches in over five years as uncapped. MS Dhoni's last international game was India's heartbreaking 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, after which he officially retired in 2020.
Despite this classification, there is no doubt that Dhoni remains one of the biggest names in the league. The veteran cricketer, who led CSK to five IPL titles before stepping down as captain last season, continues to be the heartbeat of the franchise.
